Carbotronics is an Italian company specialising in innovative e-bike solutions.
In Reggio Emilia, in the heart of the Motor Valley, we created Power Frame, a new paradigm for electric bicycles.
At the heart of the project is a vision: integrating power directly into the frame, harnessing the potential of an advanced technology, forged CF-SMC (Carbon Fiber Sheet Molding Compound).
Power Frame is the first fully integrated e-bike solution: a robust, lightweight monocoque frame capable of housing a power unit within its structure.
While mechatronics brought mechanics and electronics together, Carbotronics takes the next step: carbotronics. Forged carbon thus becomes an active part of the system.
We overcome weight and space constraints by designing the structure, motors and sensors as a single functional system.
Carbotronics was born from the many years of experience of its partners and staff in the fields of mechatronics, sport and industry.

THE ZERO DRAG POWER UNIT
The project began with an ambitious goal: a power unit capable of delivering 110 Nm of torque while maintaining a noise level below 60 dB. At the heart of the innovation is the patented Zero Drag system, which eliminates all mechanical resistance above 25 km/h or when the motor is switched off.
The result is a smooth, natural pedalling experience, just like a conventional bicycle.

THE FIRST MOTOR IN CARBON
The breakthrough came with the integration of the mechanical components into a forged-carbon casing. Representing an industry-first, carbon is not merely a “shell”, but the central structural element. We brought advanced automotive technology into the heart of the motor, enabling the system to manage 5,000 rpm in an integrated and stable environment.

THE BIRTH OF
POWER FRAME
The third phase marks the birth of the Power Frame: the definitive transition from a separate motor and frame to a monolithic structure. Designed for a full-suspension MTB, this monocoque frame provides side access to the battery and simplifies maintenance: the electronics and reduction gearing are accessible from both sides.
